Introducing the Student Leadership of 2011

Head Boy – Tecwyn

As head boy I plan to encourage school pride by leading students into taking part in house activities and other activities around the school and I would like to get my fellow students to get involved and take part and show them the same opportunities I have had. I would like to expand the music room instrument quota. If any students have problems I would be more than happy to help and they should not be afraid to approach me. I hope to be a good role model for the school.  2012 I am hoping to head to University to further my education in Music.

Head Girl – Teri

This year my goal is to help students get involved. Aparima College offers so many opportunities to us and we need to make the most of them. Working together with the other amazing captains I would like to encourage participation and introduce as many new opportunities to my fellow students as possible. I bring a strong work ethic and a positive attitude which I wish to use to inspire and encourage my fellow students. Next year I aspire to attend University to study first year of Law.

Deputy Head Boy – Danyon

As a 2011 Aparima College head student I intend to make a change, focusing on having more sports options available, such as squash, badminton and basketball, and having more lunchtime activities, aiming to create a rise in school spirit. I am intending on bringing back house competitions from the good old days, involving the entire school, teachers and students. Utilising my role as Ngapohatu house captain I aim to have weekly competitions, both sporting and cultural. Encouraging and supporting students will be the key. My aspirations after year 13 are very board from my keen interest in business and marketing

to a teaching degree. My long term goad is to own my own business.

Deputy Head Girl – Kate

As Deputy Head Girl this year I would like to promote the SADD (students against drink driving) program in our school to encourage students to have zero tolerance towards drink driving. I would also like to get students more involved in school activities such as the school production, J-Rock, Students Council etc. I am very approachable and value any input from fellow students. I intend to go to Teachers College to qualify as a Primary School Teacher after my education at Aparima College.

Sports Captain – Ashle

As the 2011 sports captain I intend to inform you of local sporting results that involves my fellow school pupils. I also wish to help co ordinate sporting activities during lunch break for all ages. I will also help with coordinating sports exchanges with other schools. Helping on the sports council will also be a part of my role. I bring to this role enthusiasm, the love of sport and team spirit. Next year I am heading to university to further my education.

Cultural Captain – Whitney

As the 2011 cultural captain I intend to be actively involved in this year’s production and drama events. I will be available for other students to come to me with ideas for more cultural events throughout the year. I bring charisma and people skills to this role. I am looking at heading to Teachers College or to working marketing and advertising at the end of the year.

Promotions Captain – Jessica

As your Promotions Captain for 2011 I have great plans in store for this year. The obvious reason being to promote the school of course but I have plans in place to take this to a whole new level not yet experienced at Aparima College. So get those smiles on because the camera is going be rolling 24/7 when you least expect it! I bring a new perspective of what life at school is like in a media context in a fun an interesting way. My plans for next year are to pursue a career as a biology teacher, starting with heading to Otago to University to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree.

Board of Trustee Student Representative – Sam

As the Board of Trustee Student Representative I aim to represent fellow students on the Board and report information back to the students. I am aiming to bring a closer relationship between the students and the Board of Trustees. Next year I intend to further my education by attending a course at SIT.
